Fifth Annual Midwest Health Economics Conference

May 2-3, 2014, at the Univeristy of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

The College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is pleased to host the Fifth Annual Midwest Health Economics Conference, to be held May 2-3, 2014, at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The conference is sponsored by Center for Business and Public Policy, the Jon David & Elizabeth Epstein Program in Health Law and Policy, the Department of Economics and the Institute for Government and Public Affairs.

This annual invitational conference promotes active exchange and discussion of the latest health economics research among senior and junior economists. The conference will consist of a full day of presentations on Friday, May 2, and a half-day presentation on Saturday, May 3. The conference dinner will be held Friday evening. As in past years, meals will be provided but all other expenses, including transportation and lodging are the participants responsibilty.

We have reserved a block of rooms for Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2, at the I Hotel and Conference Center, 1900 South First Street, Champaign, IL, 61820. Due to limited space, participation in the conference is by invitation only.  If you are interested in attending and have not been invited, please contact Nolan Miller at nmiller@illinois.edu to inquire whether there is space available.  Invited participants should register using the following link, as it will help us plan accordingly.

Social Events
In addition to breakfast and lunch on each of the two days, there will be two social events. We hope that everyone will joins us for for drinks at Houlihan's located in the I Hotel and Confernece Center. We will be starting around 5:00 p.m on Thursday, May 1, 2014. The conference dinner will be on Friday night at Big Grove Tavern in downtown Champaign. Transportation will be provided.

Transportation/Parking
Parking at the I Hotel is free. On Friday, the conference will be held on the UIUC campus at the Business Instructional Facility. Parking is very limited around campus, and if it is available it will only be metered parking. We will be providing a shuttle from the hotel to campus as well as transportation to the dinner Friday night. Depending upon the level of interest, we may also provide shuttle service Saturday afternoon to the Champaign airport. The hotel does provide its own shuttle service to the airport as well. In order to plan, please indicate on the registration form your transportation requirements.

The local airport is Champaign's Williad Airport, which is serviced by American Airlines. There is a flight scheduled for 2:20 on May 3, and we will end the conference in time for people to make that flight. The Chicago airports are approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes away, and Indianapolis is slightly closer. Please keep in mind if you fly through Indianapolis that they are in the Eastern time zone, but we are in the Central time zone.
